Playing Catch-up

Bear with me. This is going to be a post with lots of randomness. I’ve been so out of my blogging loops, its quite pathetic!

sick

The title of this picture should really read, “I can’t work this WEEK”. Ugh! I was out a whole week from the damn bug that is going around. Thankfully no one else in my family got it near as bad as I did, but, taking off a week from work was not my idea of a vacation. For sure.

time-flies-clock-10-11-2006

Little things here and there have gone on. My last big post was on Emily’s birthday, which happened to be when I was sick. Thankfully I already had that one scheduled, or I wouldn’t have gotten that one done. She is officially ten. And I’m left scratching my head, asking myself, “how?”

test-pencil-school-400a061807

I had my math mid-term this past week, and feel really good about it. I went into it with an A in the class, and I think I will come out on the other side with an A.

I was doing great in my psych class, until I took my first test. Let’s just say, I didn’t do so hot. I though I was prepared, but oh how wrong I was! I conferenced with my teacher, and she gave me some great suggestions, and I think I’ll be back on track in no time.

I’m in the market for a change in jobs. I am so burnt out on the law side of things. I have an amazing boss, but the work I have to do leaves me feeling so unfulfilled, and wanting more. I have worked for an attorney for 9 plus years, always doing workers’ compensation. For at least six of those years, I was always on the side of the injured worker. For almost the past three years, I have been on the insurance side of things, and it drives me crazy. I can’t stand representing people that are trying to screw over a legitimately injured worker. CANNONT STAND IT. That is something ethically and morally I can’t swallow. Jeff and I talked about things, and we’ve decided that I’m going to take some time off, focus more on school, take more classes, and find a job in the medical field. I have several friends that have referred me to two of the local hospitals, where they both will pay you 40 hours a week, you work 20, and then you go to school the rest of the time, all the while, they pay for  your schooling. Hellllooo!?! Win/win, right? I couldn’t imagine not taking an opportunity to do that!

IMG00105-20100303-1521

The weather. Oh, it’s just been AH-MAZING!! We spent almost all day outside yesterday, Jeff playing with his truck that he is fixing up, blowing bubbles with Callie, and starting on my spring cleaning the yard. I’ve always wanted to put pine straw in my flower beds, but couldn’t choke down having to pay for pine straw that falls off the trees. Don’t ask why. Just a complex that I have. Well, we have over 100 acres of pines around us, and I have access to all the pine straw my little heart desires. I’m so very excited!! I’ve already done one flower bed, and I love the way it looks! I know that it’ll look even better when I get my flowers in there too! YAY for spring!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! I’m so happy to be back!!

Sunday’s In My City

Unknown Mami

I am finally playing along in with Unknown Mami in her Sunday’s in My City meme. The girls and I took these pictures weeks ago (read: January!) and I finally feel well enough, and found time to post them!! Being sick with a stomach bug for one plus weeks, plus my midterms really knocked me for a loop! Ack!

Anyhoo…I hope you enjoy a peak into my town. I have plans for many more to come!!

Our town has grown so much in the recent years that we now have a much larger,

up-to-date post office, in a newer, nearby building.  OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Wordless Wednesday Where Has the Time Gone?…

scan0001       scan0002       scan0004
Dear Emily,
Ten years ago today, I first felt what it was to love someone. To really love someone. You are the little person that made me a mommy. You are that little person that has been by my side when things got tough, and it was just you and I on our own. You are a duplicate of me, and frankly, that scares the shit poop outta me. I get where you are coming from, even when other’s don’t. I understand why you say or do things that you shouldn’t do, but yet, still have to redirect you, feeling guilty in the process, but know that it’s for the better.

After you were born, the song “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack came out. I would hold you, and rock you, and kiss you as this song would play, with tears streaming down my face. There is nothing more in this world that I would want more for you, but to hope that  you dance through life. To take the trials and tribulations in stride. Take the challenges in life, and conquer them. To never just settle. To know that one day, when you think that a boy has broken your heart, to know that it was HIS loss, not yours.

Emily, you have turned into an amazing young lady, with a heart of gold. I can’t believe how quickly these 10 years have flown by. I hope the next 10 take their time, as you dance through life.

I love you baby girl!! I can’t wait to watch you dance.

Friday Fragmenting

Have some stuff you need to get off our your mind? Bit’s and pieces of things you want to talk about, but it’s really not something worthy enough for a post all by itself? Well, come join in on Friday Fragments with Mrs.. 4444 over at Half-Past Kissin’ Time
**My (step) son Timmy has been driving for several months now. It’s been great and not too stressful for the fact that he was having to borrow our vehicles, so we knew where he was, who he was with, and how long he would be gone.
Today, it has all changed.
He and his dad finally were able to make all the necessary fixes to the clunker free car he was given, and it is now road legal. Jeff bought the tag this morning, and Timmy came over tonight (he’s with his mom every other Thursday) to get it. The grin on his face was just priceless when he walked into the house!
Watch out Florida! Timmy has his own set of wheels!!
**In about 6 days, my first baby, Emily, will be 10. I have no idea where these 10 years have gone, but she’ll be graduating from high school before I can blink if I’m not careful.
**I have been following the blog of sweet, two-year old, Layla Grace. It is has been inspiring to read this family’s amazing faith and strength in the days and months that Layla has been fighting her Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. If you have a moment, will you please offer your love, prayers, and support to this family? The prognosis for Layla is not good, and she will need a miracle in order to overcome this horrendous disease. Layla was diagnosed with cancer around the same age that Callie is now. I cannot imagine what this family has gone through, and is going through currently.
**I am now Windows Live Writer's number one fan. For real. If you aren’t using it, why not? This little handy dandy program is rocking my socks, and is making blog posting so much easier on my life. It’s free to download, and free to use. You can also download spiffy little plug-ins, and I’m just having a blast with it. Do it to it if you haven’t checked it out!
**I have noticed over the past few days that the sun seems to be trying to stick around a little later in the evenings, a sure sign that spring is near! While I have really enjoyed the cold weather Florida has experienced this winter, I am looking forward to being able to plant a garden, and flowers, and do spring cleaning in the yard. We moved at the beginning of January to a home that is on over an acre. That means we’ll be able to have a decent size garden! YAY!
**In my excitement over the garden that we’ll be able to have, I will need to do some research on how to keep deer out of it. Over the last week, we’ve seen about 7 deer in and around our property, and I know they can do some damage to a garden. Anyone out there have any ideas??
**This weekend is a weekend for just Jeff, Callie and I, while the kids are at their other parents. I won a lunch to a restaurant a few weeks ago down in a town near by called Crystal River. It’s been several years since I’ve been there, and Lord only knows how long its been for Jeff, so we are going to take the chance and take a day trip.  I’m really looking forward to strolling around and enjoying the sights, and maybe the chance sighting of a manatee! I hope to have pictures to post Monday from our little trip.
**Callie is on this kick now that everything is “mine”. My phone, my hairbrush, Daddy’s key’s, Emily’s toys. It’s all hers. It was very comical at first, when we figured out what she was saying, and realized that she actually knew what she was saying, and it still is kind of comical when she say’s “MINE!” to say, a box of tampons she found under the sink the other day, but I know that if we don’t nip it in the bud, we’ll be in big trouble! I guess this is where the operant conditioning that I’m learning about in my psych class will come in handy!
**Last thing…I have to say how proud I am of myself for actually applying what I’m learning to my everyday life! Who knew that these things I’ve been doing all along actually had names to it, and someone before me had researched it already. Imagine that!!

Happy Friday Friends! I hope you have a fun and warm weekend!!

Wordless (NOT!) Wednesday …BFF Edition …

sevenclownbutton

Hi friends! It’s time for another addition of my wordless Wednesday post, which, of course, I don’t know how to keep wordless!

Below is a picture of some of my very dear friends who I went to high school with, and who I’ve kept in touch with over the years. Out of these girls, I’m the first one to move away from the Orlando area, with only one other girl to have moved away since I did.

These girls mean the world to me. They have been by my side for everything. Marriage, baby, divorce, turmoil, another marriage, more turmoil and another baby. I can count on them for anything, and I don’t find many people that can say that, especially about more than just one or two close friends.  I am beyond blessed!

This past weekend we were able to spend some time together, and catch up on old times, and create new memories.

Also, a few weeks ago, I posted about the fact that I knew that Jeff had something up his sleeve for my 30th birthday. Oh how right I was!! The night of my party, the doorbell rang. When I opened the door, my best friend, Stephanie, from Orlando was standing there, with her boyfriend! Jeff had secretly gone into my phone, looked her number up, and arranged for them to come up for the night. I was beyond excited to see her. We talk almost every day, but it had been several months since we’ve seen each other. It was the best birthday surprise EVER!

This past weekend, it was her boyfriends birthday, so we went and surprised him Saturday night. We had a blast, to say the least!

Stephanie and I go way back, and I think we know more about each other than our significant other’s know about us! Love her!!

I’m so thankful and appreciative for my friends, and I hope that you are able to experience the same!

Happy Wednesday! Now, go link up and have some fun with the other wordless (or not) Wednesday post on the WWW!
